We’re back to share an update on our recent bike touring adventures, and reflecting on our challenging journey from Kiel in Germany to Skagen in Denmark. It was a trip filled with cold, windy conditions, unexpectedly high expenses, and some equipment challenges that tested our resilience. Christine’s shifting broke, and my front tire blew out and the repair that was supposed to be for a few hours, but lasted a week.
Despite these hurdles, we were truly inspired by the beautiful landscapes, the quaint villages we passed through, and the unique experiences that came our way. Riding on the beach, feeling the sand beneath our tires, and witnessing the spectacular meeting of the Skagerrak and Kattegat waters at the tip of Skagen were highlights that made all the challenges worthwhile.

Due to our equipment difficulties, we made the tough decision to cut our journey short and settled on a long bus ride to Berlin. The few days in Berlin gave us plenty of time to think about future trips, with Bornholm and Rügen firmly on our list of must-visit destinations.

Looking ahead, we’re buzzing with enthusiasm for our upcoming tour around Puglia, Italy. We had planned a ride from Liège, Belgium, to Bordeaux, France, but in May Christine had a CTS surgery on her hand, so she needed several months of recovery to get back to top cycle form.
We have a new process for recording this year that hopefully is easier to manage while away from the home studio, and has better sound quality, so we can record and post every day. Also, we will change up the format and introduce different topics in the episodes to add variety to our storytelling beyond just the description of the kilometers we rode that day.
We are extremely grateful for everyone who takes their time to listen to us chatter on about bicycling! We hope to inspire you to also get out there in nature, away from the car, and experience the freedom of traveling by bike.
